Somatic learning grounded in the intelligence of your body.
Sessions begin with what's actually here.
You might come in with an intention — to ease a pain, to feel less stuck, to find your way through something.
We start by holding that lightly, and then setting it aside to listen.
What's here? What are you actually sensing, feeling, imagining through your body right now? We begin in conversation with that — through movement, through gentle touch, through reflection, through the arts. I mirror back what I'm noticing. You respond. Something opens.
By the end of the session, what you came in hoping to accomplish is often already happening — not because we forced it, but because you meandered your way organically into it by trusting the guidance and creative intuition of your body. The body got there first. The mind comes in afterward and says, oh, yes, this is what I care about!
How this work unfolds —
LISTEN
Space to be seen and felt.
We begin by making room. We befriend the unknown. Through my presence, listening hands, and mirroring movement, we touch what's already here with unconditional acceptance. We listen to all the different voices that make up the orchestra of your being. This is where we start.
SPROUT
What wants to grow, grows.
Once these voices in you are seen and heard, they share more with us. Small, true things. We welcome them through movement, rest, art, and reflection. They unfurl as we continue to relate to them. These aren't insights I bring to you — they're discoveries that emerge from your own body's wisdom. Often they surprise you. Often they matter in ways you couldn't have planned.
ROOT
What's discovered finds its place in your life.
Over time and with repetition, what emerges in our sessions takes root. Themes solidify. You feel more agency. You develop your own bridge to your body's knowing — one you can cross on your own, between sessions and beyond them. The work becomes yours.
I draw on two bodies of work, used alone or in combination, depending on YOUR INTERESTS AND NEEDS
The Feldenkrais Method®
Through gentle touch and playful movement experiments, you develop subtle body awareness that frees long-held habits and makes room — in your mind and body — for more ease of movement and joy. One-on-one Feldenkrais sessions are sensory conversations between client and practitioner that open the door to discoveries that matter. These insights leave impressions deep in the nervous system, gently reminding us that much more is possible than we have come to expect.
The Tamalpa Life/Art Process®
Find and move with the creativity pulsing through you. Welcome your life experience, and how it lives in your body, as a chorus of collaborators wishing to partner with you in service of healing and authentic participation in the world. Enter into a creative dialogue with these collaborators through dance, writing, art, and song. As you deepen your relationship with what emerges, you come to trust the ways your life informs your art, and your art your life.
The two, woven together
The many common threads between these modalities help you cultivate a deeply embodied relationship with yourself and your life. Forgotten places in your body remember their agency, revealing stories and reawakening capacities that hold the keys to your wholeness. The arts become a powerful language for giving form to what unfolds, allowing this wholeness to live. Gradually, you discover that the creative and sensory guidance you tap into isn’t random, but carries a clear order to it—even while it ultimately remains a mystery to both of us.
As we listen and respond to what emerges, an inquiry takes shape: How can I embody what I discover? Living into this question, you cultivate a relationship to your body, and to life, that is soulful, tangible, and uniquely yours.
Ways to work together:
Private sessions
One-on-one Feldenkrais Functional Integration®, Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, and integrated somatic sessions, in person at my studio in Berkeley, or over Zoom. Sessions are 60–75 minutes. Best for people who want sustained, personalized work and the space to go deep.
Group classes —
Awareness Through Movement®
Wednesdays, 12–1 pm.
A weekly Feldenkrais group class at ODC Dance Commons in San Francisco. For people curious about somatics and want to try the work in a low stakes group setting, or for those familiar with somatics and want to integrate the method into their personal practice.
Wild Body, Wild Land
Pop-up Tamalpa Life/Art Process® group workshops in various locations throughout the Bay Area. These workshops explore different themes such as connecting to the stories our bodies hold, building meaningful connection to the land we call home, establishing life as ritual, emergent co-creation, and attuning to Earth’s cycles. For those who want to connect deeply with the nature of and beyond their bodies, in supportive community.
